May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
    wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
    with joy that long endures.
    May all life’s passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!

I think I’ll get this printed and mounted…

  • will this day ever end?

Okay what is with time today?  I can’t believe how slow it is going!  Great for lunch break, but still what is with that?  I know I am not the only one to utter this same sentiment today. Now, one would think it feels so long as it is Friday the 13th and all things supertitious, and Murphy’s Law like, the day feels long for all that is going wrong.  But no.  Nothing is going pear shaped in any sence of the term…

Will the sun ever set on this day?  Well it will eventually and no doubt by that time, I’ll be asleep in the arm chair…

  • Mother Nature please take your hormone pills!

Okay what is with this weather?  I swear it is colder now than it was in November and December and yet the thermometer attached to the garage wall, the weather presenters, and the weather websites seem to say that it is warmer than it feels!  Just what is with that!  And now they are forecasting FREAKING COLD TEMPERATURES for the weekend ~ great.

  • the hurry up and wait game begins …

We have been attempting to acquire work for The Husband and with the economic down turn affecting really everything right now,  and it is proving very difficult.  Add to that, the fact the Canadian Government has seen fit to make it that much harder for prospective employers to hire a foreign worker, well it has been down right hell on TH.  He gets to play Mr Mam, a job he is well capable of, but loves to hate it!  In all this we have come to the thought that we will have to get the Permanent Residency application in for The Husband so that we can then get his work permit opened up for him to be able to work for any employer.  To do this is going to take a large amount of money we don’t have at hand right now ~ thanks to the unexpected layoff at Christmas, and to our knowledge, were not going to be having for another couple months when the tax returns would be in.  Then, last week I was sent a letter telling me the Goverment sent me a sum of money (to a bank account that no longer exsisted! ~ dorks!) for a Child Care Benefit.

So, once this letter landed at the door, and sure enough it covers the amount we will need to get the Residency underway, it was decided rather quickly that was what the money was going to be put to.  All the necessary Police Checks were sent away for in anticipation of the cheque to arrive.  After speaking with someone at the right agency, I figured that it was going to be the better part of this month before we saw that cheque arrive.  Now we wait for the Police Certs to arrive and not let the cheque burn a hole in our pockets.  There is always a hole that it could fill….

  • not Sprung yet …

I thought March was supposed to come in like a Lion and out like a Lamb?  Last week it snowed for two days and then this morning it slushed …. there is no other way to describe it, except maybe snow Irish style!  At least when it slushes, the traffic isn’t as bad as when in snows.  My morning drive was only 10 minutes longer than usual.

I think back to last year and well …. okay I didn’t have to deal with snow, but I must say it was much much warmer in Ireland than Calgary is right now, okay just less snow because once you add the dampness to Eire, there is no way it is warmer than anywhere, but maybe Aunt Martha’s crack!  And we are no closer to April, so I can’t even use the addage of “April showers bring May flowers!” to keep me going.

Soon though, you really can smell it in the air.  Spring will be upon us and a whole new adventure begins.  This ‘tween time is a bit boring as it does limit what we can do to keep our selves occupied as the evenings draw longer and the desire to be outside grows within.

  • ehhh … yeh … its Monday

    Oh yeah its Monday!

Our weekend was fairly uneventful, Saturday was spent about the house as we were to have a technician come out and fix the land line that was apparently cut by the work crew digging trenches and replacing/repairing the cable lines in the back lane.  And after spending many wasted minutes on the phone hold with the cable company (who we have our land line with!) and speaking with different people who could not make up their mind about why we didn’t have service (first, there was no work being done in our location; second, I needed to pay the bill (which I did first thing Saturday morning!), third, there was not a disconection notice on our account so (they) don’t know why we had no phone service …) all weekend.  Wonder of wonders, The Husband witnessed the line being replaced this morning and miraculously, we have a land line again! grrrrr

Sunday we took The Monsters to the Zoo and froze our @sses off for the first hour or so as we looked at most of the animals that we will see in the wild this summer.  We quickly found the cafe and had something hot to eat and drink then headed to the indoor exhibits, but having done that, we were finding that it wasn’t so cold in the later afternoon.  Hindsight being 20/20, we should have done the indoor stuff THEN went outside!  But that is okay, because we discovered at the end of our day that we missed a whole section so now we have reason to go back.  Personally, I think it should be late April, early May when the weather should be a tad warmer ….

    Bring on Tuesday ….
