and the cat came back the very next day
only he was a large black dog!
On Friday afternoon, we arrived home to be greeted by a very friendly exceptionally playful black dog. He spent the rest of the afternoon and evening at our house playing with the children. He was lovely! So gentle, not bothering one bit about Healthy Weighty Wee Man climbing all over him just as long as someone was there to throw the tennis ball he (or maybe she I didn’t look and not gonna feel about all the long hair to find out!) arrived with! He’s gorgeous and it breaks my own heart to say “we can’t keep him!”
But I digress from the story at hand…. Mr Black Dog stayed and played (and played hard!) for several hours until we went for our family walk and then he saw someone else to play with so he left us. Mr Black Dog was not there when we got home. He was not there when the children went to bed, MBD was not there when we got out of our beds (because some of us are not yet awake when we get out of bed!). It appeared MBD was no longer about. We hoped and prayed that MBD was safe and that no harm had come to him.
We went about our Saturday having the last of the Irish Garage Sale installments, not a success over here. Children playing, laundry and house work being done all on a gorgeous sunny, hot (by Irish standards!) day. It topped out at 27 degrees celsius yesterday and I was soooooo pleased! I had to work in the evening so off I went leaving my brood behind and thinking I would much rather be with them, even if it meant going for The Husbands 2 1/2 mile constitutional evening walk. Away I worked and at 11pm I was outta there like a shot!
After I arrived home, I was recounting the evening with The Husband and he says, “Oh yeah, you’ll never guess who came back!” I said, “Not the dog?” “Yes the very same.” MBD wasn’t about, or didn’t appear to be because I did not go looking, at that time, but on my way out the door to go to work this morning, who was sleeping on our front door mat?
Yes ~ Mr Black Dog. Can we keep him?
