Month: January 2008

  • how come it worked for Julie Andrews??

Rain drops on roses and whiskers on kittens,

Door bells and sleigh bells and warm woollen mittens,

brown paper packages tied up with string,

these are a few of my favourite things!

When the dog bites! When the bees sting.

    When I’m feeling sad,

I simply remember my favourite things,

and then I don’t feel so bad!

  • pictures from the past month! part one

at a local shopping centre there is a ferris wheel and a couple of wee rides that were put up for Santa’s arrival and have stayed beyond that.  As a treat, we took the children to the rides one cold evening.  Believe it or believe it not I actually went on the ferris wheel.  Nearly got sick for it but I still went!

next in the month, we decorated the christmas tree.  Well the children and The Husband did.  Insane Mother of Three was incharge of putting the lights on and was then delagated to taking pictures.  A couple days after the tree was up Wee Blonde Child asked one afternoon, “where’s the fairy?” while pointing at the tree.  Little did I know that the tree had been knocked a couple days earlier and the angel had fallen and broke.  So a new “tree fairy” had to be acquired.

next was a trip to Dublin, but I’ll post those pics separeatly as there are many!

Then we had a trip to visit Santa at a place called Litlle Acre Open Farm.  While the farm is open for trade all year long we only go at Chirstmas as The Husband’s brother has a wee hobby farm and the children are able to see touch, feed, ride and/or run from all sorts of animals all year long.  At Christmas Little Acre Open Farm does the place up in lights and they even have a wee cottage where Santa is waiting to have a wee visit with the children as they are ready.  You can spend a good couple hours there seeing the animals (chasing the cats as ours did!) touching/petting the ones that let you touch them, playing on the wee playground, having your visit with Santa and a cup of tea with a bisquit (cookie) afterward.  We went with the Burns Family who recently become friends and caregivers for the children after we moved away from being their neighbours for three years!

  • fear & frustration

we booked our tickets to return to canada.  we would (will??) be going on a wing and a prayer.  that is the fear.

the nay-sayers are chirpping in my husbands ear.  this is causing problems.  that is the frustration.
