fast friends
It will never cease to amaze me how quickly children make friends!
I invited two wee girls from up the row of houses we live in to Gabrielle’s birthday party on Sunday as they had played in our garden with Chloe and Gabrielle during the summer and I had two extra spaces at the party. Not only did they become “tighter” friends, but they told everyone that passed by them sitting on the wall that they are “going to Gabrielle’s party at the Pirates Den on Sunday!”
Then to the horror of the neighbours I started them singing songs, which they did as loud as their little lungs would let them! …my children seem to have two volumes, deafening and hardly audible, I discovered today that other children are much the same…

and we start week two …
So last week was the first week of my two week “holiday” that I am required to take from work. And while I started out with grand ambitions, well they fizzled well into the first day.
Here is what I did get done: got some clothes sorted and put away which was needing to be done for a while. I did also get one parcel posted and one more made it to the boot of the car in preparation for actually getting posted.
The fish tank was emptied, refilled and MORE fish were put in to replace the ones we killed while trying to save them. Gabrielle locked her self and Ryan in the car, then became a performing contortionist unlocking the door while still strapped in to her car seat. Then she proceeded to hide the keys to the house & car the next day which prompted an entire house search. At the end of it all where were found? In the one place that wasn’t looked in to several times each by Paul and myself after dismantling the bottom of the sofa and the armchair in the livingroom (where they weren’t but I found the pair of scissors that went missing last year!).
The week ended with a Teddy Bears Picnic at the local museum and Library which really was a waste of our time as the advertisement in the local paper promised more activities than were actually there. But it was a grand walk over there and back that was enjoyed by many of our passers by as Chloe was pushing a pram full of teddies!
Now what will this week bring ……

T G F AL!!!
That would be THANK GOD FOR ANNUAL LEAVE! And in two weeks I’ll be begging, “Please Please PUHLEEEEEZZZE let me go back to work!
I have grand plans, one room at a time I am going to completely sort out this house. Pack what needs packing in preparation for a move of house and donate or sell that what is no longer needed. Could anyone use a moses basket with hood & stand?
But first I take some precious quiet time for myself. ***insert Nescafe Gold moment***

my little girl is very big now
Today was Chloe’s first day of big girl school. Uniform and all. She was ready to go the minute she was woken up this morning. As far as she was concerned skip breakfast and go straight to school. I’ve no doubt that will happen in a few years time.
Chloe’s excitement was barely containable until she was in the classroom sitting at a wee table with the other children around her. Then the look on her face said she wasn’t sooooo sure. Then as I was about the leave her, one little boy let out one heck of a scream as he had to be disentangled from his mother’s limbs, Chloe was even more unsure. But she mustered her courage and said she would help the wee boy not be sad and I could go now.
Not that long ago she was a curly bob wee thing …
